Celebrate Japanese culture and admire the stunning cherry blossoms at Washington D.C.'s annual National Cherry Blossom Festival. The city turns pink and white as the blossoms come into full bloom, creating a pretty image to kick off spring. Wear your best pink formal attire to the Pink Tie Dinner Party, fill the sky with color during the Blossom Kite event, and listen to live music along the Anacostia River during Petalpalooza, an outdoor street festival with food, entertainment, and fun activities. The Festival returns to Nationals Park, and for one day, you can stroll throughout the concourse and enjoy beer from dozens of craft breweries. There will be live music and food trucks, as well as a dueling piano bar to enjoy. Sakura Matsuri: Japanese Street Festival

Kick off the cherry blossom season with Sakura Matsuri, a lively Japanese street festival to celebrate arts, culture, and treats. These include Japanese dance, martial arts, and taiko, among others. Tickets currently range from $10 to $25. Join this festive celebration in Washington, DC, from April 13th to the 14th.

Anastasia

The Fairfax High School presents the award-winning musical Anastasia from April 18th to April 27th. This stunning production brings to life the story of the twilight of the Russian Empire as the heroine, Anastasia, embarks on a journey to discover the truth of her past. Enjoy the captivating score featuring hit songs like "Journey to the Past," "Once Upon a December," and "In My Dreams," as well as grand sets and costumes. Perfect for all ages, tickets range from $10 to $12.

National Cannabis Festival

National Cannabis Festival

The Annual National Cannabis Festival is a celebration of the legalization progress of marijuana. The festival features educational sessions, congressional leader talks, and a two-day concert with live music performances by Thundercat, Wu-Tang Clan with Redman. You can also catch special guests Devin the Dude and Backyard Band, Black Alley, Noochie, RDGLDGRN, Cumbia Heights, and others. You must be 21+ to attend. Two-day general admission passes start at $105 and can be purchased online.

Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival

The Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival is a yearly ten-day event in Winchester, Virginia. It celebrates the area’s apple blossom season and includes various activities, from parades and fireworks to carnival rides, music, and more. The festival also features a variety of contests, such as a beauty pageant, a talent show, and a baby contest. In addition, there will be plenty of food and craft vendors and a variety of children’s activities. Be sure to check out the main event, the Grand Feature Parade, which takes place on the first Saturday of the festival.
